Better is Possible CDC, Inc. is Proud to Offer the Pathways to Nursing Project
The Pathways to Nursing project is dedicated to supporting the next generation of Black and underserved nursing professionals in New Hanover County by providing the resources, mentorship, and coaching necessary for successful entry into the nursing field. This unique program focuses on empowering future nurses ages 12-23 with the tools and guidance they need to thrive in healthcare careers.
We offer two levels to meet the needs of aspiring nurses at different stages of their journey:
Level 1: Nurse Camp Series
This entry-level program is designed for middle and high school students interested in pursuing nursing. Participants will receive mentoring and guidance in a supportive environment to help them explore the profession. The Nurse Camp Series is offered year-round, with sessions held twice a month.

Level 2: FBNA (Future Black Nurses of America)
For students ages 17 and up, this accelerated program is tailored for individuals who are ready to take a more direct path into nursing. FBNA offers focused mentorship and coaching to prepare candidates for nursing school and career entry.
