Brandon “BIGG B” Hickman
Brandon “Bigg B” Hickman is the co-founder of the Lillie Ann Heggins Scholarship Fund and Better Is Possible CDC, Inc., dedicated to empowering underserved communities through education, mentorship, and opportunity. Raised in Wilmington, NC’s Northside, Bigg B attributes much of his success to the strong foundation provided by his family, church, and the Community Boys and Girls Club, where he found guidance and purpose.
A proud graduate of Norfolk State University, Bigg B earned a scholarship as a member of the Spartan Legion Marching Band. His charisma and humor quickly earned him recognition as a campus host and entertainer, sparking his journey into media and community leadership. After graduation, he began teaching in Charleston, SC, and later returned to Wilmington to join WMNX Coast 97.3, where he serves as Program Director and on-air personality.
Bigg B’s deep connection to the community is evident in his work with youth, college students, and at-risk teens. He founded Urban Promotions, an initiative giving teens a platform to voice concerns to community leaders, and frequently travels the East Coast presenting workshops on Hip-Hop culture, diversity, and motivation.
An active member of Core DJ, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., the Black Arts Alliance, Inc., and award-winning Program Director with Cumulus Broadcasting- Cost 97.3, he has received numerous accolades for decades , including the NAACP community impact award, the City of Wilmington, New Hanover County, Alpha Phi Alpha, and so many more have acknowledged his leadership, support, and impact. His dedication to fostering resilience, leadership, and opportunity continues to inspire young people and strengthen the community he calls home.

Suprena Hickman is the visionary founder of Better Is Possible CDC, Inc., a community-driven organization dedicated to transforming lives and fostering hope. With over 26 years of nursing experience and more than 15 years of mentoring and coaching, Suprena brings a unique blend of expertise, passion, and creativity to every endeavor.
As a Nurse Entrepreneur, keynote speaker, best-selling author, and certified integrative health and life coach, Suprena has spent her career building platforms for healing, growth, and resilience. From founding a vocational school to mentoring teen girls and empowering women entrepreneurs, she has consistently demonstrated her commitment to uplifting underserved communities.
Suprena’s work is driven by a deep belief in holistic wellness and the power of community. Her impactful events, whether large-scale productions or intimate gatherings, are designed to unite and inspire through healing, education, and support. Her personal journey of overcoming nursing burnout through creative outlets such as a home baking business and event planning fuels her dedication to fostering resilience and creating opportunities for others.
Guided by the principle of Sankofa—honoring the past to enrich the present—Suprena’s leadership at Better Is Possible CDC, Inc. reflects her unwavering commitment to reaching back and helping others move forward. Through her vision, the organization continues to make a meaningful difference by addressing critical community needs primarily in the African-American and underserved populations- ultimately empowering individuals to thrive.
